Downloads:
unrEVOked - 1(ish) click root
ArmonRA Recovery
Fresh Evo ROM

Instructions:
First, make sure your battery is above 35%.
2nd, make sure everything (aka contacts and stuff. if you want your texts saved, dl 'sms backup' from the market) is backed up
Also make a list of all the apps you use.

1. Open unrEVOked
2. In the status bar, File > Custom Recovery...
3. select recoveryRA.img
4. Plug phone in and let it do its thing

When everything is said and done, your phone is now rooted. BUT... you still get shitty battery since your using the default ROM. I use Fresh Evo. It usually works well for me. There is some optimizations I usually make before flashing the ROM, but ill get with you and teach you how to do that later.

1. Place the Fresh Evo ROM file on the root folder of your sd card.
2. Turn phone off (completely)
3. hold vol down + power button until you see a white screen
4. Give it a second to do its check and then select recovery (use the volume keys to navigate and the power button to select)
5. When recovery is loaded, scroll to "wipe" and select (power button)
6. Scroll to "wipe /data" and select and press power again to confirm
7. Do the same for /cache
8. Scroll up to "Return" and select so you will be back at the root screen
9. Scroll down to "Flash Zip From SD Card" and select
10. Select "choose zip from sd"
11. Select "fresh-evo-blah blah blah.zip"
12. Hit power to confirm

Let it do its thing. It will take a few minutes so don't panic.
Once its done, you will have to go through the log in process again. But other then that, your done! I can show you how to customize it further next time we are at the station.

Give me a call if you have any trouble... But realizing that you probably wouldn't have a working phone... Write down my number and borrow a phone or sign up here and make a post :P
Wow! Now THAT was insightful!
Now, I know you think you understand what I said...
But I'm not sure you realize you HEARD what I MEANT!
